Human beings have always tried to explain the mysteries of life. We have tried for over 20,000 years, and still we are equally confused. Look at the animals; they seem to be in a flow with the nature. I can never know what their philosophy of life is, but I would not be surprised if they know the truth better than us. They realized from the beginning that civilization is a stupid idea, which is why they never tried. And all the while we thought we are intelligent because we have civilization and kept asking the poor animals “Tumhare paas kya hai?” (“What do you have?”). They could not even say “mere paas ma hai” (“I have mother”). It is natural for mothers to leave them when they are old enough. They realized from the beginning that having mother-in-law is a stupid idea. However this post is not about making us realize how stupid we are, I have done it already in the post ‘Cheers to our Stupidity’.
What I am trying to say, in such a confusing way, is that the world is a complex world. Our brain is not used to dealing with multiple realities. That is why it tries to make everything look simple. What it does is collapse the probability wave (Quantum world) into a single discrete reality (Newtonian world). It is proven by the double slit experiment (check my post Illusions). It’s a weird world out there that we might never understand. Our brain tries to simplify everything into a binary world – good-bad, love-hate, black-white – and so on; all that is an over-simplification of the reality. That over-simplification brings in the illusion of time, space, free-will, you, me, and everything that we know. We try to explain all the mysteries in a simple way. That is what philosophy has tried, that is what science is trying. I will try the same, but remember, none of it is complete truth. It only gives a ‘simple’ logic to satisfy our mind’s quest to understand the mysterious things we perceive. The truth is, all that you ‘think’ exists around you, just exist in your MIND.
Even the beautiful romantic full moon only exists in your mind. The moon exists only when you see it. When you do not observe it, it becomes a wave of probability. It’s you observing it that makes the difference. In fact your mind is so powerful that it can stop water from boiling just by looking at it. That makes me wonder, the people whom we call abnormal, is their world more real than ours? Is it right to call them abnormal? Think again before you make a joke on them. We might never understand their mind, like we might never understand the reality. Our ‘normal’ reality exists only in our MIND.
Just a little warning before we start…this post might hurt your ego of free-will; might challenge your fundamental believes about life. Are you ready for the challenge? Buckle up, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
To be continued…..
And another magnum opus!
ReplyDeletehmmm... interesting...
ReplyDeleteAre you a physicist? Your posts are always searching, always intriguing. The blog title is very apt - KHOJ
ReplyDeleteBut i agree at times animals seem so much in tune with nature....
bingo!
ReplyDeleteWell quite true....but in the end its only us who are really in the advanced emotional mode whereas allb the other beings are in the advanced survival mode...they just want to survive...whereas our advanced emotional mode wants us to be a pleasure seeker ....can be tough sometimes
ReplyDelete'advanced emotional mode'.....that wants us to be pleasure seeker....that's a human perspective right? infact sometimes i feel that we are also in advances survival mode...
ReplyDeleteagriculture... civilization and its resulting inequality...and the geopolitics and world war....its all for survival right? to survive we brought other species at the brink of extinction is a proven fact...

ReplyDeleteI would say, perhaps its a good thing that humans have the ability to cogitate and make sense of the world. In the Hindu philosophy they say, we are extremely lucky to have this ability and have the opportunity to make it to the higher ideal rather than just surviving and passing from one life to another. Perhaps this is true and perhaps it isn't but certainly having control of our lives to the extent that we humans do, is I would say a fortunate thing.
ReplyDeleteToo intresting!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Richa....i appreciate your view...but human philosophy also says that time is an illusion....and so does science. that would mean that the control that we think we have over our life is also an illusion...free-will is a big debate...and then again, we do not know how the animals think...thinking that we are lucky can also be because we are biased...
ReplyDeletethanks a lot jaynthbusi
ReplyDeleteHmm. Things which perplex our brain can be termed as stupidity, awesome!! :P
ReplyDeleteI love the beginning the post, funny. You said a very intelligent thing ( expected from an IITian though) about over simplification. I am analyzing my perspective half way through your post. Brilliant work and looking forward to read the rest of it.
ReplyDeleteor rather not understanding it even after so many years...:-)
ReplyDeletegald u loved it Saru :)...i am not those glorified integrated IITans.....just did my masters :)..
ReplyDeleteAwaiting the next post, as this one has (like most others by you) grasped the attention strongly.
ReplyDeleteJust one little thing, we call certain people abnormal as normal comes from the word norm and the norm, fortunately or unfortunately, is what most of us believe.
Wonderful post. :)
thanks Janhvi...exactly...it is what most of us 'BELIEVE'....wonder how good is that belief...
ReplyDeleteWell civilization again is a matter of perception. It is also relative. There may be life forms in other planets that are more "civilized" that those here. Each society thinks that they are the most evolved in terms of civilization. Life is all about shades of grey. No one is completely good or completely bad!
ReplyDeleteprecisely...it is relative perception...:)
ReplyDeleteYou are such a genius! I could not even spell genius, the firefox corrected it :| I liked this post Sub. You analyze things so well that I get confused with the fundas I built all my life :| but still...its fun to read stuff ;)
ReplyDeletelol..even I can't...I used to spell it as ginnyass! :P
ReplyDeleteNice one...Well yeah..there is a different world out there, and no wonder we do try things to fit our way ( the brain does that too, for if we let everything coming, then it would for sure get mad, that's why we have theories on 'Heuristics' 'Social Perception' and what not..I say this coming from a Psychology background. And as goes for the tag 'ab normal'..there's a lot to say will share a link with u from my another blog:http://halfopendoor.blogspot.com/2011/06/define-normal.html#more
ReplyDeletethanks Aakriti...i'll sure visit that link...give me sm time :)
ReplyDeleteThought through and well written.. Liked it SUB!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot :)
ReplyDeleteCudnt read it when u post it. That was a fantastic way. Today i was just coming and i saw an old mad lady. When i was reading ur post, all the time that mad lady was somewhere in ma mind. For us she is not civilized bcoz she doesn’t eat ,sleep, walk the way we do. That’s why she is mad. But the interesting thing which she was doing was collecting all the plastic wrappers. I don’t think we the very well civilized people will dare to do this. Actually she was a doctor sometime. these are the rules set by we humans. we can change it when we need to ought
ReplyDeleteNicely written in simple words.. :)
ReplyDeleteTrue over-simplification is we all are master at :)
ReplyDeleteMost common example- our parents over-simply examz they just say.... "Study and Give" :)
tell me is Examz that simple ??? LOL
jokes apart..
I guess simplification is the way we deal with this complex n entwined world.
that was an interesting experience...glad you shared :)
ReplyDeletethanks a lot Krishnapriya
ReplyDeletelol....true...thanks Jyoti
